Recording of the first ForestTalks Seminar
The first webinar of our “Forest Talks” webinar series: Towards a Common European Forest Monitoring System” was held on April 30th 2024.
This webinar was hosted by the Horizon Europe projects ForestNavigator, ForestPaths, and PathFinder, to discuss the co-creation of monitoring and model-based pathways for EU forests supporting climate, biodiversity, and bioeconomy goals.
During the webinar, panellists discussed how results from Horizon Europe research projects could contribute to the development of a future forest monitoring system and how to use its information for co-designing forest-based policy pathways to achieve climate and biodiversity goals.

Recognizing the increasing pressures on European forests, a community of Earth Observation (EO) experts have issued an open letter for consideration in shaping the Forest Monitoring Law (FML). The law as proposed by the European Commission includes the collection and sharing of timely and comparable forest data obtained through a combination of ground-based measurements and Earth Observation technology.

The second “Forest Talks” Webinar on co-designing policy pathways for European forests, supporting the climate, biodiversity and bioeconomy will take place on 17 March, 2025, 11:00 – 12:30h CET (online).
