Recording of the second ForestTalks webinar

The second webinar of our “Forest Talks” webinar series: EU Forest Policy and Pathways in a Changing World was held on March 17th 2025.

Enhancing the contribution of forests towards EU climate mitigation targets is instrumental for the transition towards a green and prosperous economy. Achieving economic prosperity in the region is crucial to garner support for policy implementation benefiting the forest sector, the climate and biodiversity targets in the EU Green Deal. However, the fundament of this decarbonization is hampered by recent changes in the geopolitical environment, including the EU and US elections, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and regional polarization.

Speakers included Prof. Sten Nilsson, whose groundbreaking studies on boreal forest policy and global forest sector analysis have advanced sustainable forest management and shaped international forest policy.

This seminar series on forest monitoring and forest-based policy pathways for climate and biodiversity goals is organised by ForestNavigator, in collaboration with its sister projects ForestPaths and PathFinder.

ForestNavigator, ForestPaths and PathFinder have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Program under grant agreements N°101056875, N°101056755 and N°101056907, respectively. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Commission. Neither the EU nor the EC can be held responsible for them.
